Flying V-man...

Postby nm » Wed Jan 11, 2012 3:43 pm

Just realized I haven't posted anything on the V-man's swimming ventures...

2011 Short Course and Long Course seasons were phenomenal!

V-man qualified & competed in 6 events at the Northwest Sectional Age Group Short Course Championships last March (2011). The meet is held in Federal Way, WA and hosts the top age group swimmers from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska & Hawaii. V swam away with personal bests (times) in everything: 10 & Under: 50 fly - 2nd place; 50 free - 8th place; 50 back - 18th place; 50 breast - 19th place; 100 fly - 9th place; 100 IM - 11th place.

10 & Under Long Course State Championships were held at Bend's beautiful outdoor 50 meter pool in July 2011. V-man defended his 50 fly state champion title & was only 6 tenths of a second off the state record. He placed top 5 in everything.

He gained his first Junior National qualifying time with his 50 meter fly.....as a 10-year-old!!! :D

2012 Short Course State & Sectionals are quickly approaching.....February & March. V has qualified in everything for State and has qualified in 7 events for Sectionals.

And just to keep it surf related.......he opted out of the Noll this past October. Said the surf would be shitey.....& he was right.

11-14 Age Group State Championships - Short Course: in 3 weeks. V-man qualified for 12 individual events.....limited to 6. He'll get to pick what he wants to swim.

Pacific NW Age Group Sectionals - end of March. V-man qualified for 10 individual events (so far). Again...he'll get to pick what he wants to swim.

Pacific NW Age Group Sectionals in 2 weeks. V-man qualified for 11 events....limited to swimming 6.

His choice:

100 back - seeded 7th
50 free - seeded 14th
50 fly - seeded 2nd
200 IM - seeded 13th
50 breast - seeded 11th
100 fly - seeded 4th

Short course State was a great meet for the V-man. Best times in everything....he was king of bronze w/ one silver.

No surf for the V-man lately. Maybe after long course season ends.....next week.

A most excellent short & long course season for the V-man. He defended his 50 meter fly (long course) state champion title for the 3rd straight year. :D

He is currently in Colorado for the 2012 Western Zone Long Course meet. (like short course Sectionals...only BIGGER & MUCH HARDER to qualify for)

National Rankings were released at the end of July:

The V-man is ranked 7th in the Nation for 11-y-o boys 50 meter butterfly & 20th in the Nation for 11-y-o boys 100 meter butterfly.

He says he's going to the Olympics..... :D
