theifs in westport

Postby grizldoldfk » Wed May 19, 2010 10:24 pm

my buddy nate got his boards ripped off up there right out from under his rig (older white nissan pathfinder) while he was sleeping in it saturday night sometime between 1 and four in the morning.( i regret he did not wake up to catch the dirtbags). i'm trying to get photos of his boards, but for now, it'd be good if ya'll put yer feelers out.
nate was ripping and was looking good for a final ranking, but fate was against him.
the surf world is a small world though.
spread the word.
nate's a friend of the south side locals.
ya'll might not take that too seriously, but i do.
thanks to anyone who leads us to our buddy's gear.

hey griz....

Mark Mekenas of Cannon Beach Surf sent out a mass *heads up* email last week regarding the stolen boards. He also posted on his blog about them. (he's such an a-hole.... )

Best of luck to your buddy......

when i was in college my buddy had scored a fat pink thruster from a pawn shop in the valley and we were out at lighthouse, after a fun session of weak closeouts and pearldrivers we came up the steep trail to meet a few of coos bay's finest. they were even less friendly than most tri city locals and it turned out that my buddy had their board. he came by it honest enough, but before we got our @sses kicked, he handed it over. their story was quite believable. someone had ripped it off and pawned it. my buddy was the sucker in the deal.
sure there are alot of kooks in the water these days too, but the surfing world is a pretty small world after all.
i hope we can track down my bro's stuff, yeah, but moreover, i hope we can put a hurtin on the lowlifes that would take a guys surfboards.
spread the word.
(and if the shi-bags who did it are reading this, pm me and lets see what we can come up with.)
**and thank you ladies for your support

Griz....sorry to hear about Nate's board getting ripped off....I cant imagine how pissed I would be if was shooting for the finals and my board gets taken. I will definitely be on the look out. Colors/size?

I can only imagine the karmic retribution coming that guy's way when he paddles out with Nate's board.

Smithers knows what up. He's been around enough to know and see all that is real.

Westport is a great set up for surf. Unfortunately its surrounded by a small handful of good people and a chit load of meth heads who are catching on to the surf faze. Watching your chit is as simple as being around in the 80's. Sorry it happened. However, know now. Be aware. . Times are tough for everyone. Especially for thief's, and addicted thief's are a whole different story. Welcome to the NW coast.

Good luck on the recovery.

That sucks about having your boards stolen, but you know surfing was never meant to be turned into a sport. What is the point to having a panel of judges telling everyone who is better then the next? Sounds way too political to me, it's just a group of people with their point of veiw. I could care less about these cr@p contests. I have been surfing before they came to the PNW never needed them to get the stoke going, talk some story on the beach by the fire, or surf with a group of friends. Hope your boards turn up, I'll keep a eye out also.
