Blind Kids Surf Session

Postby nm » Mon Jul 19, 2010 3:40 pm

Dory Days were in full effect in PC this past weekend. Terry Appleby...one of the local dorymen....takes a group of blind kids (from the Commission for the Blind) out on a dory boat to fish during their annual camping field trip. This year he asked Gaz to organize a surf lesson in conjunction with their activities. (Thank You's to Jeff Mollencop & Moments surf shop for outfitting the kids with wetties, booties & a couple boogie boards; Holddown for the use of his soft top; Pat King for instruction & a soft top; Nick for instruction; Greg Englesby for photography)

We had 4 takers...Andrew, Isaac, Jesus & Patrick and their counselor Julie. First surf lesson ever.....for all of them.

The water was only 46 degrees and these kids were amazing! Complete trust.....and all stoke! Hands down.....one of the best sessions I have had in the water in months! Can't wait to do it again next year!
