first time i had to surf with crowds in quiet sometime. dusted off the thruster, missed the lads but scored some tasty lefts.

I didn't have the same luck as Spent...
Saw him going out going in...
There were a few out there...
But mostly closed out...
And much smaller than Thursday...
Only surfable for about an hour...
Then the wind began to howl...
Although all the peeps heading out...
Didn't seem to mind.

camped with family at cape lookout sunday night, spent most of night awake in car with sick toddler. decided to head back home to the inland after only 1 night but stopped at roseannas for lunch. surf looked small and lame and there was no one out but while the family ate I paddled out and ended up with a really pleasant hour of surprisingly quick waist high rights and lefts that peeled and sectioned enough for a couple/few little turns on each before the tide got too low and it was over. Lesson: It's always better in the water...turned an un-fun trip to the coast into a nice trip

First light, high tide, WNW 10ft @ 14sec, 0 wind, fog lifting, sun beaming through, nobody out. Suited up and headed out for a closer look. Waited about 15 minutes for my lull and it was on. Big shifty lines with overhead+ drops on the midsize nuggets, overhead walls of white water on the big sets. Lots of water moving around with a bit of backwash but I got a handful of memorable waves while trying to fight off that fishy feeling out there all by my lonesome. Paid some dues but well worth it, looks like more on the way later in the week :D

Lots of glasssy lefts yesterday. Shared a peak with a woman surfing well on a 4 fin.
Rainbows, waterfalls, unicorns and pussyfarts (and about 20 Bics in the water) That kind ofawesome!
Needless to say I was totally and completely in my element.

The ultra cool, going on five years surfing now but got the scowl wired, Joel Tudor ball licking, dreaming about masturbating in AKnost's shadow insta loc yoga farmers from nesko pulled into the parking lot as I was driving out.
Perfect timing!!!!! Have fun Stinky face

Holy wow! doing pushups right now:
S WIND 5 TO 15 KT... BECOMING SW IN THE AFTERNOON. WIND
WAVES 2 FT. SW SWELL 5 FT AT 10 SECONDS...BUILDING TO W 8 FT AT 17
SECONDS IN THE MORNING... THEN TO 12 FT AT 18 SECONDS IN THE
AFTERNOON. SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN IN THE AFTERN
I digress

Lots of people out yesterday for some playful head high waves in the sun and 59 degree water, I didn't even think about sharks...

I spaced my booties packing last night and kinda mused about it on the drive out. As I sorted out my gear in the parking lot, my thoughts were confirmed...they were still warm and dry in my basement. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I cooked in my 5/4 all morning despite constant flushings and head dunks. By far the warmest water I've surfed on this coast all year. Waves were chest-neck, clean, with some nice shape on the pushing tide. Wish I could've stayed for the whole day...

yesterday was the first day in water since july (when I puked on the beach), and the ONLY day of the week that I might have possibly made it in the water, and whaddaya know buoy's clocking 6@11 with nil wind. scrambled out of required work attendance at 3ish, in the water by 4. paddle out on the rip, warm water, hood off, grab a position on the inside. immediate gratification with a left back into said rip. ride, pull into rip. realize hair is still dry. sweet.
I'm still an out-of-shape, mediocre surfer with a imminent second child, but f--k, yesterday sure felt like a gift.
that's the view from my mother in-law's kitchen...

after two weeks off due to some pretty serious skateboarding appointments, 'twas time to return to the womb. ran into a legendary concrete finishers and had a nice chat about backyard bowls. stoked to know he surfs. anyway, it looked like those recent big swells have shifted the sand a bit here and there. walked up to some very defined looking peaks in a zone that hasn't shown much form recently. first wave, timing was all off, noticed a broadie to my right and pulled back to let him go and somehow swallowed a mouthful of sea water. then i spent a good twenty minutes trying to decide what peak to go far, floundering around like a portland kook. finally found my groove and, yeah, had a nice time surfing in very comfortable temp water. i like it. i will try again tomorrow.
