Fri. p.m.
I descended on the coast in a frothing mess rivaled only by the surf. It was big and messy, swinging wide and sectioning, nobody out, not what I wanted to see. Took 4 or 5 clean-ups before riding anything then got shacked on my first wave, should have quit while I was ahead.

Sat. a.m.
Small and clean. 30+ heads in the water at spot X but only 3 where I wanted to be. Fun little peelers, great vibe.

Sat. p.m.
Hit up a spot tailor made for the conditions , small and glassy, almost wished I was on a log. Just me myself and I.

Sun. a.m.

Big and beautiful. Light offshores grooming thick overhead walls, handful of guys out enjoying the cold morning sunshine, best session of the fall so far.

Sun p.m.
Cold beer and fresh crab with friends and family.

Not much of a report...
Bailed the valley Thursday on yesterday's forecast...
Of east winds and 8' swell...
Spot check 1, a 3 part harmony...
Part 1 Burley, lumpy, punishing...
Watched for a bit...
A few distant specks disappearing behind massive walls...
The occassional drop was short and rewarded...
With a belly ride in and no way back out...
Unless a 20-40 minute paddle was entertained...
Part 2 offered some walls...
But wierd, warbly and strangely soft on the shoulder...
Part 3, experts only, well overhead...
Drops followed by disappearing acts...
Huge lines that heaved and threw without reason...
All in all, way beyond what I had hoped for...
Spot check 2 more promising but...
With a closer look more of the same...
A few takers, and more on the way...
Pretty much limited to one peak...
But entailed and head banging paddle out...
20-30 minutes at a minimum...
And any wave taken meant taking that chance...
Not a channel or soft spot in sight...
Made my shoulder hurt just watching...
Opted to go back to work...
Kinda bummed but lived to surf another day...
Judging from all the boards headed west as I headed home...
Someone musta gotten something...
But then again, while surfable...
It was not an A day.

I do what I can.
I did have an epic SUP around Ross Island today...
On the 14' Naish Glide...
Sunny, not too windy...
Almost took the Bark 18' prone...
But too much rain too recently...
Seemed pretty clean today

OK, I'm gonna post a WA report to show some of the BS that we all deal with....

Thanksgiving morning:
Grays Harbor buoy shows 12.1' overall at 4:30am with these components:
0.5' at 22+ sec, 288 degrees
1.3' at 18-20 sec, 287 deg.
2.7' @ 16-18 sec, 292 deg. (Money!)
3.8' @ 14-18 sec, 289 deg.
5.8' @ 12-14 sec, 284 deg.

Solid Gold on the inner str8, right?
uuhhh.... wrong.
Spot check starting 8am showed flat, flat, kneehigh, flat, kneehigh.
Really?
Faaaaaaak.

But that's the str8. It's been legit DOH, 3x in the last couple of weeks. Deep inner str8, insane. But not today.

Outer Str8's a whole 'nother animal. More surf. Much more commitment required.

On the plus side: Me & Buddy finally found a secret spot for which we'd been searching for 10+ years. Totally unique setup, cool wind protection, needs big swell. Unlimited potential.

Silver lining on a skunk day. That's the str8.
Yeah.
