So at the last minute me, the wife and kids packed up for an overnight trip to the beach. Surf forecast did not look promising so no boards on this trip. We ended up at Haystack and the temperature was much warmer than we expected. My boys were running around in shorts.
Late in the afternoon I went over to the Cannon Beach Surf shop, my boys needed booties. Anyway, it was great visiting with Mark, he was giving me the scoop on some very cool pics taped to the ceiling of his shop. We also traded stories about Wally, apparently he was sighted at an industry show down in San Diego a few years back.
Next day the winds were gale force, blowing sand everywhere. Spray off the wave faces was going 50-60 feet in the air. The upper deck of the hotel even had sand on it.
Ended up grabbing the 2011/2012 Visitor's Choice Oregon's North Coast Guide book. It contains an entire section on surfing with article from Jerry Lopez. It seems weird that of all the publications he is in, this free guide got him to write an article. It was a complete surprise to read it. Anyone else read it?
