Surfed where kookiness knows no bounds. Labor Day wknd nuttiness complete with a dog crate and surfboard contraption, a dog that barked incessantly to go with a clueless girl blithely enjoying the shrieks of her dog in her ear. Twat yachts and kayakers, the wheel and the leash ruined surfing....

South swell bumped up and kept the kooky-kooks out of position when they came, a little less wind and that bump gone it would have special, so very special......

Surfed alone on Labor Day. It was sunny and warm. Very consistent, and few shoulders.

There was also no wind.

Saw a dude on my way back who asked, "You can surf...(removed)...there?"

"Anywhere you want."

"But.... (removed)....?"

"Anywhere you want."

Dominated Waldo Lake...
On Gaz' sweeper...
And on the Bark UL...
Oh, and kayaks...
Did 7 mile paddle on the prone...
About 8 miles on the SUP...
(Battling side chop for 4 miles back...brutal)
The sun and fun were pretty intolearable...
Still, not surfing tho.

Triple session Saturday.
Sesh 1 - Epicenter with no one out. Well, at least not where we were.
Sesh 2 - Bay City rolling with Spent and loads of man sweat.
Sesh 3 - North coast cool down. Funky right hander serving 'em up on the drop with wicked side rip. Again, all by our
lonesomes.

That was a great day. I crashed hard that night. Amazing we found empty peaks and solid waves with the hoardes within sight.

Came home to a major bummer though. I was told I had to entertain my wife's friends new B/F. If you know me, you know I'm not much of an 'entertainer.' Do you surf? No. Do you skate? No. Do you like beer? Not really. Want to go jump in swimming hole? No I want to stay out of the sun... What the f*ck am I supposed to do with you then...? Then this couple decided to have their first 'fight' while visiting us. Matey, gets up and walks out of our house at 11pm, never to return. Not sure if he made his flight or not.... cheerio... thanks, mate I could have been surfing, skateboarding, drinking beer, or riding bikes with my kid who you and your G/F showed no respect to.

Two more bodies of water were slayed on the Costco sweeper:
- South Santiam River
- Green Peter Lake

I also demoted several pub groms to tourist status due to behavior unbecoming of a local.

Epic south, watched insane Teahupoo ... heard friends in SD scoring a boat-in spot at 6-8ft ... surfed waist high mush in freezing water with a janitor that should have stayed at the river. pretty sure i got the wave of the day tho.

Got some really fun peaks around 3rd creek at SS on Monday night.
I love September groundswell. Got in the water around 5 and surfed till 8 with about 6 other guys.

Rode my 5'10 Oakfoil Custom, it is amazing how well a diamond tail can hold a critical line on a vertical face.

Thanks Wayne!!

Critical lines on vertical faces at SS are a rarity...

I usually get those conditions at dawn patrol or the night sessions at SS.

Today was the 1st surf in over a month, 1st in Oregon in almost three months. Felt outta shape, cold, scared, and even kookier than normal, I'm glad the fog was so thick nobody could see me. I always forget how much a wettie changes the game. Swell was solid and the wind was next to nothing. Bit of morning sickness on the low tide but it was cleaning up nicely when I ran out of gas. Had to make a leap of faith and paddle out based on what I heard in the fog because when I showed up I couldn't see the lineup. Good times...

Almost found some critical lines at Shortys today...
Mostly big critical lumps...
But a few pretty lined up walls...
Definitely some OH set waves...
And a couple scrambles over the top of feathering peaks...
I went on the rest of the feathering peaks...
A little crossed up and bouncy on the drops...
The wind at 1 actually smoothed things out a bit...
And some really solid sets came through...
Nice to surf waves some with size and power...
Been awhile.
