Guess it depends where you surf, had 2 or 3 dudes screaming at me that I couldn't surf said spot, one I've surfed off and on for 20 yrs., before I even hit the water .

Very wishful. The things that have passed were things that made pdx a bastion of living under the
radar. No longer the case unfortunately and irreversible unless we nose dive the economy and people leave in droves.
