Huh. Almost had to initiate a rescue on behalf of a dude a little further north. I was suiting up when a women approached asking if I could see her husband in the water. Nope, nobody out. She said she lost track of him about 30 minutes ago. First time surfing after a 20 year hiatus. She was in her 50s. I asked her for a few more details and then looked up the hill to see a dude walking down the hill soaking wet. Turns out he couldn't shake the rip, was paddling against it, got tired and had to give up and bail for the rocks, then bushwhack up to the road. He was smiling but also looked pretty humbled. Think he learned his lesson. Probs wont surf again.
Otherwise the surf was fun. It was a little windy out there, but I caught a few decent waves and also got a few cleanups on the head. May be our last real swell until august, so I wanted a taste.
