Here's my two pals who made these "Canadian" boards here in Campbell River during the winter of 1972-73.
I rode my first wave ever on one of them while wearing a wetsuit several sizes too big for me.
That was on Easter weekend of '73 and this pic was taken later in summer at Long Beach.

By the mid '80's I had my little quiver all in order and rode them all equally poorly, but geeze I had fun.
Note black marks on deck from butt and feet placement when sitting then riding.

Take care.

6'2" John Potocny. a bit like a supermodel; makes me feel fat and slow quite often, but she's fast, fun, and suuuure is pretty

Hey Hump, I just read your post from a few years ago... Are you SUPing now? That would be awesome if you are back in the water.

Howzit 2tone?

No SUPing for me although I see a few out in the rivermouth at JR nowadays.
I'm told they are not allowed on the Point but can ride the rivermouth with the yakkers.

Been more into fishing and stuff the past few years. Bought a Tyee rowboat a few years back and actually won an award my first year of rowing (2012) plus I rowed a guy to a 45 lb. Tyee last year just before I filmed a TV fishing show which has run a few times now.

Here's me and the 45 pounder. I'm 6'2" and about 200 lbs for reference.
Third largest fish of the year but would have won it all the year before and this year.
Crappy timing I guess.

Terrible year here this year for Tyee but other runs were excellent.

Nice to see you on here.

All the best and......

Take care.

Probably time for a refresher here- it would be great to hear what everyone is riding these days.

I have been riding board from my favorite shaper Oak Foils, he is down in CA....sorry not an Oregonian.

Waye Okamoto has been making boards for decades and his creativity is off the charts. Check out the "PacMan" deck here: http://oakfoils.blogspot.com/2015/10/pa ... art-c.html

I got all my little brother's boards when he passed so now I have five of his boards in my quiver.

My board of choice these days is 6'5 Pynzer Quad that looks like a tongue depresser. Sorry I still never figured out how to post pics on this site but it is a pretty fun board for all Oregon conditions.

Funny I was just thinking that of all the boards I own right now, only one has been in my possession for more than 2 years. Have sold/traded at least 5 in the last 5 years.

Current quiver:
6'4" Kunney HPSB (thruster)
6'4" Midget Smith (80's thruster - my 2nd board ever but currently in need of a rehab)
6'3" Shuler Wookiee
6'4" Shuler JKL
7'3" Shuler Cosmo

Current fav is the Kunney - socal (HB) shaper. Fun, snappy board with just enough fwd volume for OR waves.

Two boards I wish I still owned:

7'3" NWSD speed egg
7'1" Becker egg - 2+1: Pin tail with a wide nose. Really squirrelly, fast board for the size. Miss that one the most.

Last board I rode was a 6' Lost Beach Buggy a few weeks ago. Before that was a 5'7" Christenson twin keel fish a month or so ago.
