injured surfer

Postby Tatonka » Fri Dec 04, 2009 5:56 pm

I was not there yesterday but heard from a bro the story of a badly injured surfer on the north coast, supposedly NPR covered the event as well, (helicopter evac after being carried out by firefighters).

I just want to wish the guy a speedy recovery and I hope that he is ok.

Surfers injured at Seaside Cove
Seaside volunteer firefighters responded to two calls to assist injured surfers at the Cove on Thursday.

Both surfers were injured near Tillamook Head, where waves were especially high.

At 9:38 a.m., paramedics contacted a surfer at Tillamook Head who had apparently dislocated his shoulder. However, the surfer refused treatment.

At 11:13 a.m., paramedics again responded to a report of an injured surfer. They encountered several surfers carrying out another surfer along the Tillamook Head trail. The surfer apparently had been knocked against some rocks. He was entered into the county's trauma system and transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital.

No doubt! When is someone going to do something about the way this wave gets all agro and regulates this place?

Lets throw rocks at it! That will teach it who's boss!

Word is he blew a drop, got caught inside and slammed in to second point. Not where you want to be. Shattered pelvis and ribs. At least people were nice enough to carry him out.

Wishing you a speedy recovery bro.

3 pelvis fractures, 3 fractured vertabrae.
Heard he was up and walking now - no surgery needed.

The guy is a fixture...
As solid a surfer as I have known...
Think he had an invite to the Nelscott...
If he got hurt, anyone could have.

His bro said the doctor said...
Spit out of a barrel...
A helicopter ride...
And now on good drugs...
What more could he ask for?

Well, Heal well Matty.
