Major Lazer, Tex, Howley Wolf - I thought of this forum recently and remembered the interesting conversations. It has been a long time. The forum is still going, which is cool to see. Didn’t you guys used to get together on a weekly basis for a surf or a hangout or something? It is kinda true that most of the time, people hightail it to south Cali or Mexico for some thawing and waves. It’s been a long time since we made Oregon our destination. It’s just so cold here in the winter that if we can go straight to somewhere warmer, that is what ends up happening. -3 and sunny today. We remember that Oregon has some of the friendliest people we’ve met in our travels. We haven’t visited in over a decade and should really drive that coast again at some point.

Wow....10 years, well, I can say the surf scene in OR has changed a lot since 2009 ;) Crowds are real now....but most Oregon surfers get started fairly late in the day and close up shop a bit earlier than most in the summer. All that to say- dawn patrol is still super uncrowded and weeknights in July/Aug are still pretty chill.

I have only met Spider in person and I think me and Major met to talk work if I am tracking on all his handle changes over the years. Would be stoked to rendevous with any of the OSP crew for some waves so be sure to plan at least one trip down to the OR coast this year. It would be worth in in late summer early fall.

Hello All,

Short time reader, first time poster.

Newish (>1 yr) to Oregon (Portland) from California (Sac? Bay? Santa Cruz?). Can sometimes be found at Shorts trying to imitate Tudor (Not close) or floating in the impact zone trying to take photos (Getting in the way).

Oooh. old and crusty, perfect for 31 going on 70. I ride a longboard most of them time but have a thruster and single fin which comes out of the garage on occasion.

Where does everyone usually surf? I've mostly been sticking with Shorts, been going with my partner so there's stuff for her, but interested in going solo soon to explore up and down the coast.

Mostly Shorties it's Oregon's most surfed spot for a reason. Look around thou, just avoid anything that mildly resembles a point with a small crew on it. More than likely they will not be friendly. Half assed waves and occasionally good waves can be had if conditions are right. Pretty fun, but can also get old after a while.

My buddy who lives in Corvallis is falling in love with the Central coast, go explore there, very mellow vibe and can get pretty darn good.

Where everyone else did...California.. But spent a good amount of time in Santa Cruz, so I'm a little familiar with cold water and surly locals...so that gives me some cred, right? right?
