Surfboards to need permits!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby Gazsurf » Thu Apr 01, 2010 9:38 am

If you plan to surf California this year, plan on spending a little extra before you get in the water bitches! Thank god Oregon is still the home of the free! Goddddamn government has gone too far.

The permit cost is dependent on the size of the board. A permit for a board under 6'6" will cost $100 for the year while anything between 6'6" and 9' will run $200. The largest fee, that for boards greater than 9' tall will cost $500 per year as these are classified by the state as commercial vessels. Governor Schwarzenegger commented, "A board of that size seems completely unnecessary. You could fit a whole crew on it. Heck, I saw a guy out there on one working last week. He was sweeping."

Does it really matter Spent? Shouldn't we take steps to make sure this does not happen in Oregon? What will you have to say when they want to do the same thing with skateboards?? Stand up now man!!!!!!!!!

It's already here....

"What does this mean for those with manually powered boats (paddlecraft)?

Manually powered boats (paddle boards, rafts, drift boats, kayaks, canoes, etc.) 10 feet long and longer will need to carry one permit per boat when in use.
Permits are transferrable to other manually powered craft.
Permits can be loaned to friends and family members. "

It is real, Spanky, and they're not hesitating to hand out tickets to paddlers on 14' paddleboards, either. Especially when they can nail you for a lack of PFD and permit. Those of you training for the Jay race, stick to the early AM sessions when the marine patrol is still sleeping........

No worries Gaz, they're mostly targeting prone/knee paddlers on kayak sized boards. On flatwater bodies.
