Benny's Paddle Out Ceremony

Postby Tex » Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:31 pm

Back in April I let folks know that my middle brother had passed from aggressive melanoma. Still feels like it happened yesterday.

Anyway, we will be holding a Paddle Out ceremony for my brother on July 24th at 2:00 down at the North End of Short Sands Beach.

I am sharing this with everyone on this board because of community I have built even if only on line. Dub is actually the only one I have ever met in person =)

If any of you are there that day, look for a group down on the north end. You are all welcome to paddle out with me and my family.

PM if you have any questions or want to join up.

So the paddle out was a pretty amazing event. We had about 15 friends and family paddle out with us to spread my brother's ash down at the far north end of the beach.

What sucked was that my youngest brother accidently shot his board into my nose and damn near broke it =)

Needless to say, blood everywhere, but what can you do? My odds as a human chum bucket were good with that many people in the water!

Wanted to send a shout out to Dennis at the Seaside Surf Shop. Thanks for help with the board and the leash, really appreciate it.
