Brushes with sharks (whites, in particular)

Glad to have found this forum! I'm a professional writer working on a novel inspired by an encounter during my adolescent years with a Great White in the Oregon surf (Haystack Rock), near where Kenny Doudt's famous experience occurred, I later discovered.

I'd be very interested in hearing stories from Pacific northwest surfers about similar encounters.

I have 3 responses to this:

1) You are asking too far north. Go south. Ask around the parking lots in the Crescent City area.

2) I thought this thread was going to be more along the lines of a surfish Dances with Wolves kind of thing.

3) There ain't nothing wrong with whites.

in all seriousness, good luck on the writing. I've considered writing a book myself, at least i'm told i should because of all the things i've done in my life up to this point, but my mind moves too fast and seems to lack the patience for writing.
