Cleaned up decently enough to get a few fun ones & cleared out on the sucky-suck. Heads were so psyched on the 1st bump in months, they were boating in. Hahaha!

Sun. Swell. Warm water. Waves. Happy September!

Pretty funly solid enough to put a way the 9'+ board...
Took the new Stretch Quad out for it's first waves...
Surprised myself by actually catching waves...
And not blowing the drops, because the drops were about all there was...
Not alot of face to work with although a couple lined up a bit...
Riding a shortboard, I can relate why there is longboard hating...
I had to assert my position on a couple sets...
As the LB'ers paddled to that spot 25 feet outside of me...
And snagged waves mercillessly...
Not a problem really, just had to out position more than I liked...
The boat on the beach was an interesting feature.

I hate longboarders!
I am guilty!
That might have been me on the LB.
Kind of wish I'd had the short board yesterday, however with the surf school in session and some f'ing Gilligan doychebag wearing a big floppy sunhat floundering on the inside of me during my last session of the day, I'll take it. Went for a sweet bodysurf in between surfs, good, throwing wedges and it got shallow quick.
Happy to have sore shoulders this morning.
I digress

tuesday night: surprised by some offshore waist to chest slow peel long walled rights.

5 am wednesday: skunked

Lowtide Wednesday: Chunky HH to OH fast breaking and fast peeling at my under rated spot. Made about five of them

High tide Wednesday: glassy like a mirror same size different peak. eventually broke my leash but it was so good that I had to keep going, so I tied a figure 8 and kicked out instead. I ended up surfing 7 hours.

Thursday: Can't talk about it.

nearly pulled the plug on a sunrise session due to less than spectacular buoy readings but a magical sandbar provided us with three hours of some of the best waves i've seen in a long time. can't cheapen in any further with words...

glasssy chest high shortboard fun on Friday morning, headed further south to meet some friends and had to up the board size to make the most of it. Saturday afternoon got windy but the evening glass off was worth the wait.

That was a redemption session for us in the most perfect of ways. Still dreaming about it...

The last chunk of summer freedom spent roaming the coast, lots of miles covered and gas burnt, nothing worth commenting, fall aint showed yet.

?????

Whatev's Tatonka....
Spent the last of "Summer" scoring perfect head high rights and lefts for 3 hours sunday morning, lots of fast shoulders, perfect glass, plenty of juice. my only complaint was that i didn't get out there earlier.... 8 am is for slackers!!
Yeah, driving. I can empathize ( ha, ha...) drove all of 3 minutes from home to surf. It was brutal.... hardly had time to sip my coffee.

Fall is indeed showing. No need to look around.
Nash came down for the weekend, shared some waves Sat and Sun. Watched "the color of money" (1986 paul newman, tom cruise) sat night. Nice times, always good to have new and old friends in the line up. Finished the day with a 9 mile hike (barefoot! what a hippie!) just south of cape perpetua. 3 hours of surf, 4 hours of hiking. 3000 calories consumed. asleep by 1030. life is pretty fuking good.

Whatev's Tippy......
Sometimes it pay's to be a slacker.........
The Sand bars don't always come alive at 8:00.....
I will be invading your local as I do every year for a few day's of pace change....
I may not get to see you up close, since I be a slacker.....

3 hours surf amid the "incredible shrinking swell". But, as it shrank the tide lent the sandbar a hand and it got more and more fun. I got out too hungry to surf any longer only to see a few more perfect right zippers and no one else to catch them.
