Before moving to Oregon, I worked as an aquarist at a public aquarium swimming with and feeding sharks and rays everyday and some species are more reliant on that sense than others. If you watch the video on the website they only show it tested on rays which generally are more sensitive than sharks and they still got very close to the bracelet.
If you are diving and trying to deter a hammerhead it wouldn't hurt but I wouldn't expect a Great White to stop and turn around mid charge.
But if you have one on and the guy next to you doesn't....
