What to do with used leashes?

Postby stinky » Tue Sep 13, 2011 11:20 pm

I found out the hard way, it's cheaper to replace a leash before every winter than a beloved board. So, while cleaning out the garage I ran across my 18 year collection of used leashes. Looking at all these leashes, I'm thinking what a waste they must have some purpose other than just sitting in a box. I have made jump ropes out of two of them for the kids. Any other ideas out there for these old wave traveling leg ropes?

Jump ropes is a good idea...
Let's see, what else?
Bondage devices...
Lassos...
Shoelaces...
Necktie...
Dog leash...
Hair implants...
Seems like you could use those same crimping devices...
They use on ropes to convert them into a variety of useful things.

rope ladder
hammock
cargo net
kids' swings
roof rack straps
braid into rope
boat sling
tow ropes for sled behind xc skis
s/m whips
make your own rescue basket and hand it to the Coast Swimmers when the time is right

I like the hammock tie off and dog leash ideas. The hair extensions might work for Halloween as the "Predator." Keep them rolling, there is a lot more in the box that need a job!

weave into a welcome mat
go bungee jumping
string them above your doorway for a groovy 70's style curtain
tie them between two trees and launch watermelons into your neighbor's yard
exercise resistance bands
livestrong style bracelets (you could wear one of each color)
melt them and make shoe soles with your wife's waffle iron, then start your own shoe company
