March of Hopeless

Postby Doc » Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:35 pm

Surfed today. Sorta. Pretty craptacular. Sunny tho, that was novel. Checked north at the drive up surf service spot. It was clean, but it was teensy, closing out and packed. SUPers too all over. Headed to the other Oregon spot and it was really bad. I looked north, I looked in the middle but ended up paddling out at the south end. It was so unmemorable I don't even remember what happened. In fact, I told my wife I didn't even surf. There were some sloppy, choppy peaks but they couldn't make up their minds if they were rights or lefts. So I went right, then left, then right again on most of them. Tell you what tho, sloppy, messy and empty is better than crappy closeouts in a crowd.

March summary:
* Surfed a couple of times early in the month between hurricanes and snow storms.
* Flat water sweeping on days with junk surf
* Tore my calf muscle on the 18th playing basketball with my grom (on a winning shot)
* Returned to the water for some gimpy longboarding yesterday
* Crap surf for the remainder of the month

Hopelessness indeed...

Agreed. Overall March was forgettable, but the past week had some moments. Maybe my judgement was clouded by the knee recovering enough to get back in the water but there were three days out of the past seven that saw conditions as good as any since the fall. Too bad its over...

Have not been in the water for six weeks now... Boards got blown into the forest and the one good day in March I had to go shopping with the family... On the plus side it looks like we are gonna have some killer sand bars this spring....
