The baaaaaaaay was howling Saturday. Might escape midweek for some more. First session since November. All ive known has been heated pools. Sure felt awkward unstrapping the rhino chaser..But hey, I'm alive!

Got some on Saturday.
It sucked....tide was out and then proceeded to go out even further.

I still had a good time though. Nice to be in the salt water and catch a few rides.

Waves were knee high....no crowds though.

June 26--Can anybody help me to figure out the Surf Forecast for the next few days? It is calling for south and southwest swells at 5 feet at 15 seconds for Thursday, Friday, Saturday on the northern report, but only 4 foot west swell on those same days on the southern report. This makes no sense, unless the guys on the northern report have been smoking the pipe and/or the guys on the south report have missed something completely. Or maybe there's a real tight system spinning just off Florence and only sending swells north? No, that can't be with a 15 second interval. Help!

Makes sense considering it was actually WNW. Every jonzer with internet tracked that one, with 60 degree water I shoulda knowed itd be packed with frothers. Good medicine to get in the water for a couple sessions after a few week dry spell and get a lil stretch before heading to the islands for a month.

Trunked it on the north coast Friday. And it wasn't an effort to avoid the water at all costs trunking. Just simply toasty...sloppy, but fun.

not a bad 3 day run for such small swell. friday, i joined the hoardes for some fun but mostly weak and sloppy waves. sat moved south, and lucked into a lonely spot and surfed for 3.5 hours, with non stop perfect little waves. rights for the first half of the session, lefts for the second. clear water, predictable peaks. a little weak but long workable rides with the occasional steeper section. sun, went further south again, new spot, for me after some random early morning exploration. fun little shore breakers until the fog rolled in and spooked us out.

oh, and shared a tent with wanty, sat night. he has this giant family sized tent but rolled up into a ball right in the center of the damn thing. however, i was able to sneak out at dawn without touching him.

Been up in WA all weekend...

My 7 year old caught his first wave on a 5'0 Catch Surf foam egg. My 9 year old was body surfing for 3 hours.
We were up at Hoebuck beach, everyone was trunkin it up here.

Water is freaky warm.

Further east I did some SUPing for the first time. Great activity when it is flat. I had 6-8 feet of visibility from the SUP down to the seafloor....crazy crabs everywhere.

Scrambled outta the valley for the 20 knot north wind promise.
I was not disappointed, trudging at a 45 degree angle into the wind with a 10'6" sail of a longboard
It looked pretty hopeless initially, but a couple quick beers quickly erased common sense and I paddled out
Brought the 3mil suit this time & the water was colder than last week but a hooded 543 woulda been too hot
North end of Long Rocks was not doing anything, tide was low & going out (I think) and wind was all over the place
Opted for mid crick after seeing a peak show itself and picked off a few knee high peaks, all lefts held up by the wind
A few bigger peaks came through further south so headed over there and lucked into a couple chest high ones
The best wave was hollow and could have been a tuberide if the 10'6" wasn't such a rocket
As I dropped in the wind gusted hard and it was like riding on a giant pillow floating through the pocket
They kinda turned off at dead low so went in and pounded some more beers
Then as the tide came in the same peak started showing so went out and did it all again
It was smaller but still fun, I suspect it was the only place on the north coast that wasn't utterly blown to smithereens
More beer in the sun on the beach wrapped up the day
