Chomp a banana and slam a coconut water before paddling out. works wonders.

Remember pulling in to a round tube one time at Chambers back when there were actual legit bars there and getting a calf cramp i and trying to hold on cause it was wide open and makeable, but just collapsing and then getting so worked.

Dehydration and lack potassium..... try a magnesium supplement.

Had that happen there right when I'm starting to push down on the tail to duck dive a lip and whammo! Then you get sucked over too. Ends up being an hour long paddle back out ): Smart person woulda gone in and walked to an easier paddle.

Quit drinking about three years ago. I was on a month long binge after trying to save a stranger who had blown his head off. First responder to a suicide- sent me into the abyss.

But I am free of the booze and absolutely never miss it. So there is the silver lining.

Sounds heavy Tex and good work. PDX is a hard town to do that in where the micros flow like rivers, the weed clouds blow through like passing low pressure systems, and it's almost impossible to have a clear headed conversation with someone on the streets or in line at New Seasons

Made it through Oct, but not so much Nov.......

Its really weird....when I was done, I was just done. I did hit up an AA meeting in my first week cause I had some buddies going there. I realized how lucky I was because there were guys that had already been sober for a year but still craving it every day.

I had done a month before and then I would only drink on weekends, then with that suicide it was minimum 4-5 a day just to try and block the images out. But deep down I knew that was never really going to make the trauma go away and the booze was really just making it that much worse.

I'm a baseball fan and follow the A's religiously. I was born and raised in the LA area but couldn't get into the Dodgers.

My surf ego has been severely bruised in the past year but all seems back intact after a
ridiculous cove session on Saturday. I'm still thinking of quitting all the same. "Surf where you live"
has me looking in the mirror more and liking what I see less.

quitting is fun. you get the newbie stoke over and over again each time you restart... its best to kill your memories of how competent you used to be though... settle for eternal mediocrity. lying to yourself can also help. also hanging out with bros who own multiple pairs of rose-tinted glasses helps. you mostly surf with a couple of picky pessimists. i'd quit them, if i were you. its always 'ridiculous' with the boys...
