Anyone here remember Manzanita Surf and Sail? I had the privilege of working days there and then nights at the Sandune. When I was living there, Manzanita actually had 2 bars....the second one, closer to the grocery store had live bands perform, lots of fun for a single kid with way too much time on his hands!

Sounds like a good time. Isn't the Dune right next to the grocery store now? I know they have live bands. New wine bar went in there this past year so there are at least 2 bars now, actually 3 if you count the Whiskey bar. That town has changed a lot sidewalks and all. Mostly avoid it......
Although I've heard about it, I don't know if I ever noticed surf and sail. Was it owned by Tony who now owns Safari Town in LC? I know he owned a shop there at some point. Was probably living in southern Oregon in those days.

The Dune is a bit further west of the Grocery Store....but still, like on the same block.
Manzanita Surf and Sail was owned by Tommy Innouye and his wife Catherine.
Sometimes when manning the cash register, I also got to babysit their baby girl. Tommy was the first shop to start selling Hammer boards....it was actually the first board I ever sold. Tommy helped out the local shapers as much as he could.

He also built the Nehalem halfpipe which some how is still going... I wonder who upkeeps that place?

I recall when Wally was at the pizza restaurant back in the 90's but I wasn't aware of his surf shop. Yeah,
Hammer boards were all over the north coast back then. Was Corey Davis shaping those in Oregon or was
he in Santa Cruz at that time?

I know Corey was living on the North Coast shaping out of CB I believe. He sold Hammer to some Nike guys and bailed to SC where he is shaping under Davis Division or something like that. Nike guys had Gary Swanson in HR shaping for the Hammer label for a while but I believe it dies a fairly quick death.

Yup, it was Corey who we worked with the most. Used his boards at some primo Manzanita spots....good times.

Got sheethoused in the Sand Dune on more than one occasion. Manzanita was my go-to coast location to take fam/friends from out of state. Usually stayed at the motel on the beach with killer (read: heated) outdoor pool. Close to everything and that, uh "secret" spot that literally nobody knows about
