What happens when you build a lifestyle around riding boards and hit the mid life crash.

I'm so confused about all these wave parks opening up. It seems its like outta nowhere. Dang there must be some deep pockets in the surf industry these days. Kind of a trip.

It's an arms race. They're all using the same science that became available at large at the same time. It's taken everyone about the same amount of time to get to this point. Makes sense cause everyone is building new technology from current technology. They all seem to be at pretty much the same level but all have slightly different interpretations from what I've seen among the available videos. No one seems to be way ahead of any other. Just different optimizations.

I figured he had a few screws loose but depression is no joke. Wears heavy on many of us including myself. Coming to terms with it and getting help is the best thing you can do. HFV's......

A lot of good people are crippled with anxiety and depression. Really its a natural reaction to this f*cked up existence we've found ourselves in. This existence highly unnatural and unsatisfying on so many levels.

I'm hoping he battles his demons. I'm hoping it will be a beautiful battle. Because, I believe it can be the most profound battle of all. "The universe will provide... right." Right?

I, um... struggle with mental health to put it lightly. It's a big reason why I surf. Despite the occasional frustration at the learning process, it has actually helped me a lot. By making goals, I am thinking about the future. Wanting to be there tomorrow. Giving me something to look forward to. Gives me hope that if I can get better doing this, then I can get better in other areas in my life.

And most importantly, when I'm out in the water I'm thinking about nothing else but catching that next wave. The problems and worries literally wash away - for a few hours at least. There are no bad days in the water.
