Dakine Pulls out of Hood River and moves HQ to SoCal

Doesn't say exactly, but hints at Oregon not really making progress towards reopening. “The current health crisis, and the corresponding Oregon stay at home order were unforeseen"

I read their letter of intent and it was so damn square-- just a bunch of jargon and platitudes. Not an iota of aloha. My take is the suits made their decision on this quarter's earnings, not so much the efficacy of the state order itself.

Guessing DaKline is just the first shoe to drop. Hopefully, our preferred vendors of stoke can survive this rout, but given the current state of our Hellworld, I won't at all be a surprised if it's only Cosube that pulls through. :x

Hahaha. The Sube will survive.

Bummer for the 40+ employees that got axed. Seems like it woulda been a dope gig esp if you were a kiter. Love that skatepark as well, one of the coolest designs with the tree in the middle. Their bags are top notch. Apparently they are making wetsuits now.

Yeah, sucks big time for the workers. Can't imagine too many other opportunities in Hood River right now...

Dakine does make good product, which is why their letter was such a let down-- the full on suit-speak really showed how little stake the company actually has in surfing or any other "sports" they're capitalizing off of. I guess it's mask off for the entire industry at the moment.

They were owned by Billabong a then spun to a number of private investment
firms. Pretty much sums it up right there. This is just the tip of the iceberg for
the future. Grim times ahead, boys. Time to duck dive deeper.
