Another article on the TdM situation tying it to the ongoing "economic colonization" of Oregon. Long story short, the beach bill is a bit undergunned to prevent modern development projects (from Big Tech in particular) especially when state/local officials are quick to acquiesce to proposals from major donors like FB.

We thought we were The Ranch, but we're really just the farm.

Where are the Antifa kids when you need them? Or maybe Boogaloo Bois out here? A controversial fence like this would be fuucking nuked if it were downtown right now. Is Trey Arrow still in jail :?:

They're at Short Sands-- overheard one kid on the trail saying that his ACAB tattoo stands for "All Country American Boy". Perhaps the "Mayor of PC" can wrangle together a motley crew of bros and surfrider nerds to take on the juggernaut?

I think Howly is totally right, posting to FB is about vanity. I also think it really sucks. there are very few real "secret spots" up here. they're more like patches of sand that are usually crap, but with a certain combo of swell/sand/tide/wind/luck, have pretty good days. if you've spent your time and know how to increase your odds, those days are the ones that make surfing up here special.
If facekooks are talking about those particular patches of sand, it may not even increase the average facekooks knowledge all that much. BUT, it spreads the base of knowledge and hugely increases the odds that some pack of facekooks will get lucky on any given day. that reduces my odds of not running into these people, which is a real bummer.
it's not just on facebook either. i've heard people openly naming spots in the water, which again, is clearly meant for others to hear as a claim of their legitness. hopefully the first big swells of fall/winter will clear some people out like normal

Couldn't agree more and these are the sessions keep my stoke alive. I honestly often pass on days like today, good swell in the water, but I know where I'm a gonna end up with the winds. My tolerance for crowds and so so waves is waning thin as I grow older. Surfed to many good uncrowded days in my life to deal with it anymore to the point where I would probably move to Baker County and live the low key mountain lifestyle if my wife was down.
