Betty would have started the thread a tad bit differently:

Hey I am 23, former sorority sister transplanted from LA....looking for a NW surf guide...

“The west is not what it used to be”. Pack it up and move back to Wisconsin, The Lakes etc. As far as the risenshiner geezer goes; Check out the bathroom stall wall at Jublitz truck stop for add vertisments that may apply.

I never did, which was surprising since I did a bunch of searching: Pinged all the local surf guides ("nope, sorry - summer only"), a Reddit thread (crickets and trolls), and the locals I know (one person, interested but ultimately not helpful). I ended up just bailing and heading to the woods with my dog (not young but always frothing).

Is surf guiding really not a thing in Oregon?

We're typically behind the curve here which is a good thing. And well there's no surf in Oregon

There's a guy in the central coast.
He'll show you but won't tell you.

Thought it was Wilbur K...
If there'd been a part where he owned Kelly at Cocoa Beach...
Woulda been a dead giveaway.
