Gorge Performance moving..... end of an era for one of the best shops in the state IMO. And what a classic location as well. The demise of old Portland continues...... recently learned Andy and Bax were closing too.

Not sunny enough and way to crusty to ever be associated with Bend. Not enough Caliwackers either. Most can't handle the O.C. full time... and besides PC is still the go to. Gotta be a better nickname for present and growing O.C. surf mecca.

Damn, that sucks....any idea when the move officially happens? I wonder if they will keep the shop name...won't make much sense down there.

Just bullshitting...... I haven't heard exactly where, but maybe a scaled-down location somewhere close in SW PDX?

There is another new shop in Newport thou. Newport Surf Shop. Fitting name I guess.

Already Bend bros scouring the (tight) rental market for part time occupancy. Town itself is leaning hard into surfy culture-- events, NPOs, inspirational murals. Boom time for hip pop ups too: Two record shops, at least one self-described "bespoke" cafe, herbal medicine and yoga studios, the aforementioned four surf shops (and none of them are Ocean Pulse  ) . There's a clear trajectory unfolding. When the Pelican mafia make a play for Roby's it's all over.

Interesting. My wife would like that. Just interviewed for kind of an epic gig there on Monday. Maybe I can finally convince her to make the jump back to the O.C.!

There is another new shop in Newport thou. Newport Surf Shop.

Swung in there on a lunch break a little while back. Talked to the guys there and cracked a few jokes ("there's nothing in that room but a ladder" "Good, I was looking for a step up..."). Checked out some boards and bought some wax. Got a free sticker. They seemed pretty cool.

What can I say, Newport is a happening town for happening people

Most can't handle the O.C. full time...

Well, you're not hardcore unless you live hardcore...

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that one. Don't give them any ideas, that mural is still fresh!
