Pulled the evening shift at Short Sands yesterday-- knew what I was in for soon as I stepped out of the rig and felt the onshore breeze, but intention wasn't so much a hunt for perfect sarf, as it was to paddle out for Ranger Dan and perhaps take the opportunity to thank the boys in brown for all the crap they deal with (literally and figuratively). But their work was done for the day, so I was left with my meditations and some junk a funk surf. Opted to mess around with my 7'1 as a single fin, although the 6'4 truster would've handled the steep shoulder-head sets better. Some surprisingly good ones in the mix with low crowd and plenty of peaks working as it glassed off. Surfed til dark and ambled back up the haunted trail.
Surfed elsewhere this morning, opting for lackluster solitude over ballbuster assurity. Soaked in the scenic spring green cliffs shimmering in the morning light as I waited on the nice little LP SW pushing through the quick rising tide. Glad I hauled the log. Nothing to write the OSP about overall, but low key, workable surf will do just fine. Namaste.
