Surfing: The Manual: Advanced (Paperback)

http://www.amazon.com/Surfing-Manual-Ad ... 0977556913

I got this book as a gift for Xmas (asked for it) I own one book on surf oreinted workouts, but never owned a tecnique book on surfing. I know you cant teach an old dog new tricks, but I'm really digging this book so far. Great tips on tecniuqe, tricks, and even health and fitness. Input from over a dozen professionals and surfing heavys. Actually learned something I have never tried about duck diving last night. Not sure why they call it advanced? Seems it would be good for any level. Think it may be time to put these tips to use. Hasta-

Enlighten me..
Boardriding is about timing and style...It’s youthful, active, casual, and free flowing. There is no wrong way to ride a board. The goal is simply to learn, progress, improve, and give it your own interpretation.

Well Ken Bradshaw gives some tips, one being to use you foot NOT your knee or shin. Already know that.

But what was interesting is instead up pulling your knee directley under your body, slide it aganst the rail of your board. Foget what he said the advatage was, but something to try.

I think I use my knee mostly, my foot if I have a bit more time and want to get a little deep.

I just finished "The Last Ship", a novel about a nuclear destroyer in the aftermath of all out nuclear war. They cruise through the Med after dropping down from the Barent Sea only to find horror and destruction. They are convinced they are the sole healthy survivors, until they encounter a Soviet Nuclear Submarine ...

Just finished reading a History of the Highland Clans. I was facinated to learn that my family's clan helped turn back a Norweigen invasion force in the 12th Century.

Tweak-Nic Sheff
Another easy read by another reformed tweaker. It's a nasty nasty world in which we all live. Some things are nastier than others. Tweak is nasty stuff.

The Longest Ride:My Ten Year, 500,000 Mile Motorcycle Journey- Emilio Scotto
A fascinating story by any standard. I very highly reccomend it.
