Surfline?

ok..I know we are all major swell gurus and would never stoop to the level of joining an on-line surf forecasting/reporting service....but let's pretend for a moment that we are not as competent as we all really are, and are lame enough to consider such an option.....

Since Surfline does not specifically address the PNW...are there other Surfline-esque services that do?

And what Surf-forecasting/reporting services are "ok" for us gurus to subscribe to?

i am a subsriber to surfline, there actually is a report for oregon, and it has been the most accurate wave forcasting service i have ever used, its called lola, it is worth the $4.95 a month and 1'st month free, i love it.

Stormsurf does a pretty good job with Norcal.

This is why I like to hang out at Surfline.....posted by an anonymous member,

"The last early season gulf low was primarily an upper level low, didn't get a decent surface low or surface winds. If you remember, central pressure didn't even get below 1000 mb. The developing low is being juiced up by the extratropical remnants of Megi and is forecast to have a central pressure <980 mb by the time it passes the dateline tomorrow. Look at the forecast progs.

Winds are aimed at us pretty well. North Shore Hawaii is set to get some swell.

HAWAIIAN ISLANDS FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HONOLULU HI
400 AM HST THU AUG 19 2004

MARINE...NORTHWEST SWELL IS FORECAST FOR SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY
WITH WAVE WATCH III INDICATING SWELL HEIGHTS NEAR 7 FEET WITH
PERIODS NEAR 14 SECONDS...WITH ITS SOURCE BEING A LOW THAT HAS NOT
YET DEVELOPED QUITE UNUSUAL FOR AUGUST...SEE THE SURF FORECAST FOR
MORE DETAILS...AND HAVE INCLUDED A 5 FOOT SWELL IN GRIDDED FORECAST.

Negatives are storm forecast to stall as it enters the western gulf. We will definitely get more than trace NW swell out of this one in SoCal. How much more depends on how this one actually develops. We are still talking about a storm that is just forming. Look for NW swell arrival by Wed Aug 25th."

Nobody heres watching that close, and if they are they sure are keeping it to themselves.

Hey Oregon, don't post LOLA
here dude. You pay for it, and nobody here's giving anything up. To the contrary most people are acting like giving up a spot is akin to treason, why help anyone else get waves? I still called this swell a week ago, but I'll never do it again. We don't know anything that isn't common knowledge with a litle research, but why enable the lazy.

Some of us go surfing no matter what because I would rather be out there then anywhere else, well maybe not if it is to nasty. Anyway I only check the forecasts so I know what to expect and pack, ehh water proof pants and a raincoat today, Oh wait what am I talking about that is everyday.

Liverjaundice,
Yea, why not just get rid of the "surf report thread" alltogether? And any other surf related posts. Let's change this place into a sewing message board...

You are right about nobody giving up funds for the LOLA but green is a grom and should be exploited as such...
