Howdy all you Vatos and Hollaback Girls, long time no see!
As a gift to myself for graduating the Police Academy (yes, really) I am gonna go to California, buy a longboard, and go surfing.
Where's a good place that's got a motel close to the beach, enough stuff for the kids, and some waves without crowds?

My best friend from highschool graduated from a state PA....been working undercover with DEA for past 6 yrs.

Thanks Tex! It was hard, thats for sure. It was an 18 week stress academy, in other words, screaming, push ups, room inspections, etc. The hardest part was being gone from my wife and kids, although we did get to go home on the weekends. Highlights included getting Tasered (hurts), getting a face full of OC spray and then having to run a gauntlet, "fight day", and the ever popular "FRONT LEANING REST!!! GET DOWN!".

Now I'm gonna buy a big beater log and enjoy some beer and chips on the beach.

I would do VRBO (vacation rental by owner)...
And I would do north county San Diego...
Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia...

Doc's suggestion would be good. I won't say Santa B since its pricey and flat here. If you have an RV there's nice spots to camp right next to the beach just north of Ventura just past Rincon. To get away from crowds maybe look at places further north like Pismo or SLO. Good luck and let me know if you're coming through SB. Lots of S. swell and warmer water into July.
