Thought about getting the D90 but opted to spend the extra cash on another lens, filters, extra batteries, memory cards etc - it adds up quick.
I love my camera. Fun to use, great pictures and the guy helping learn it used to be the senior photographer for Time magazine, sports illustrated, worked for HP to produce better printers for picture printing and a boatload of other stuff. Lots of things to be learned.
I hope to start having things up on a site and maybe even selling some of my pictures by the end of the year.

I got a D80 right before the 90 came out. I had read about the 90 but the review of the video capability was bad. I got the 80 with 3 lenses a card and a bag for for under 800$. I love it.

That is a steal on the D-80. When those bad boys first came out the body alone was $800+.

this D-50 is my first SLR.

I have barely got her warmed up. Still fumbling with all the buttons, settins, and what not.

Give me a few days. I should have it wired by then....

Paddled out to a small empty peak a week ago. The tide kinda killed what little wind swell was pushing through but I thought I might catch a few. So, I paddled out and was instantly greeted by 2 gray whale calves not 20' away. We shared the sunset before they headed north.
life is short... paddle hard.

I think I'm onto something, a green fishery...zero carbon emissions. If I get a bicycle that'll carry the SUP.....I'm contracting Trula MacGyver to knit me a cart(out of her newly acquired Canadian hemp source).

grizldoldfk wrote:trula. i'm concerned. you've been posting more in the pist off thread than ever. and mostly about your job. that's okay. you need to vent. but maybe it's not really what your heart is telling you. listen sister. listen. can you hear what it is saying?

maybe you're not cut out for this job? why do you need that power? why do you want to be put in that position? is it worth it? is it right?
maybe it's more right than the dude with the prius and the knitting and squabbling over camera lenses and which republican senator is best. but still, maybe this is not right either.

or, maybe it is right. make the spraedsheet. let the guys hit on you at the watercooler. you're beautiful and you know it. embrace your feminine mystique. bring them to their knees.

listen. think. act.

Thanks for that Griz (will I be expecting a bill in the mail though?) After today I was actually wondering why I took the job

It is the pay that makes the job bearable. The $1000 advance for my travel did not hurt anything either. I know money is not everything, but I do have bills to pay, and the job does contribute something to society if people actually do it correctly.
