The automobile is such a physically, environmentally and sociologically destructive force, it needs to back the f*ck down for a time. Its had its day. Now's the time to be a humble driver.
There again, I live in Portland, where its not uncommon on some routes for bikes to out number cars and take over the whole road... and oh how glorious that feels.
The law states that holding up 5 or more vehicle is illigal, that's why. AND we are scared of running your @ss over. Its not about hating bicyclists, its about driving a boat of steel and having a swervy-unaware toothpic of flesh and aluminum in the way. We don't know weather or not your aware of us.

I guess my point is that not all those who bike are respectful of the rules of the road, just as not all drivers are as respectful as I am with lives of the turds that dont follow the biking rules.
As far as the traffic layouts, I dont live in a city so I wouldnt know the convenience of hopping a scooter to the market. Maybe I just need a pony and a cart.
The service here sucks.

Likewise. And lets not reduce this to 'us vs them,' I drive quite frequently.
As far as I'm concerned we are traffic. That law you mention, just goes to show how autocentric the system is. The law and logic often don't coincide, especially in traffic.

It is true, there are possibly just as many idiots on bikes as there are in cars. However, when a cyclist makes a stupid decision/ bad mistake, it probably won't kill or harm you that much.
Except for the whole possibility of being charged with involuntary manslaughter
Most car/ bike accidents do not end up with this charge. Here in Portland, at least, drivers are getting away with 'involuntary manslaughter' on a regular basis.
Even if your not charged, you still live with the fact that you killed someone.
I've been stuck behind bikers that just seem completely unaware they are holding up a few cars. I know you can understand with the fear of someone else making a mistake and using your vehicle as a means to accidentally kill themselves.
I don't hate bikers, I'm annoyed by the aloof bikers that don't always know whats going on around them

Right and I'm annoyed by, as you say, 'aloof drivers that don't always know whats going on around them'
That and a terribly autocentric system.

i'd prefer my taxes go to converting rails to trails, and new bikeways parallel with roadways. should've been done in the fifties...and again in the seventies...and i think g.w. had that paramount on his agenda until this whole iraq thing came up.

I wouldn't ride a bike on main thoroughfares considering the level of humanity in this, our reality. Just walk the aisles of a walmart. Now know they are in the cars around you. Now strip yourself of any protection, and put yourself at their mercy. I'll take a pass, even if biking is good for the environment.

Yeah then take an adventure to Nordstroms, then stop off at Starbucks for a crapacino. Those are the kind of people riding their 6000$ 10 speed down the middle of the road.
Pretty broad statements.
The service here sucks.

Never seen one, but I'm picturing guys in girls pants, and I'm not as entranced by the picture as I thought I'd be.
