Did you think the line-ups were crowded last summer?

This forum is for SURF topics such as localism and rants that are usually negative in nature. If you're a baby, complainer, or generally think you're right and everyone else is wrong this is the place for you. PLEASE NOTE, all forum rules still apply, but just a little more liberally enforced. Registration is required.

How do you feel about the crowds in the summer time?

What are you talking about, Oregon has no surf!!!

i agree. in cali i almost always assume they are going to make the wave, in oregon i'm watching people, sizing them up a bit closer so i know who is and is not likely to actually make it, let alone even go for it. when they've been sitting for an hour not catching anything theres no way i'm going to let a good wave goto waste because they happen to be in slightly better position if i'm 90% sure they wont even try or likely make it

by the same token i get to know who is making waves, what their board looks like, etc...so i don't prime myself for their waves as much.

you can only sit for so long watching people in the front of line pass on rides before its time to start repositioning....

It will be interesting to see if gas prices has an effect on the crowds this summer.

Me? I'm going to set up a permanent homeless camp that I'll call: Xanadu. ...or PCx2

I never have many problems getting waves...

And I can choose to surf all by myself or with a crowd...

I like the flexibility.

Gas prices won't keep me at bay this summer, however when J and i were in the airport we openned the books and looked at all of the upcoming events and got our schedules straight....we had 2 free weekends between now and Mexico.

Two.

Had two.

then work gobbled half of one in an instant.

3 days.

3 days.

A small keg of micro says you don't make those 3 days Wilb...

One thing WC failed to mention is that he can catch every wave that comes his way with that 9' Walden. That guy, he mentions, sitting around for an hour..., thats me.

No doubt. It's the "intermediate surfer", or athletic "beginner" who scare me into surfing alone. You know they're not going to go right or left by choice, and in all likelhood will be going straight down while the board pirouettes above their heads.

4 bucks a gallon for summer slop is rough.

But gas is still cheap in Mexico and the waves are better. 2 weeks down there might = more waves than you'd get all summer and prob more dough in your pocket in the end?
