So at the end of a shite year, here's how it went...
There was some good, there was some bad...
One year is like 2 years so here's how the last couple years went...

Feb 2020...rumors of a virus
Also Feb 2020...injured in martial arts sparring, can't walk, steroid shot into spine, all better...
Also Feb 2020...miss company work retreat because cant walk, everyone at missed retreat? Very ill...
March 2020...COVID hits, company (bars, restaurants, hotels) shuts down...
April 2020...after mothballing said bars, restaurant & hotels, laid off after 29 years...
May 2020...called back to work despite not being done with multiple projects unfinished to do take-out (sucked)...
May 2020...apparently surfing during a pandemic is stupidly illegal, ruining all my pre-imagined pandemic related plans...
July 2020...daughter's wedding cancelled due to COVID
July 2020 to Mar 2021...continued shittiness as a rule, (Jan 2021 highlight of Trump Insurrection...ongoing)...
March 2021...restaurants reopen to largely stupid clientele that don't wear masks and make a general stink...
April-July 2021...backbreaking work, extreme expense and general exhaustion...
July 31, 2021...daughter's wedding at my house, good times
August to now...general descent into COVID related BS culminating in my inability to go surfing when I want to.

There were good times, bad times, boring times and some good waves...
Just nowhere near enough waves.

Called to check on status the other day...
The mechanic died of COVID...
So yeah.

"martial arts sparring" got me curious as to which martial art. I am dabbling in BJJ, Boxing, Grappling, inspired by my 17 year old who has aspirations to fight in the UFC. He just made the McDaniel varsity wrestling team after 3 months of wrestling training.

My surf report for 2021, mostly not surfing but when I was, I scored and thoroughly filled the surf tank.

I deleted my end of (2) year report. Read it back to myself and thought about self-harm.

Anyway 2022 has started even worse. OmiCon tearing through work. I've been organizing coverage non-stop since last week.

Hope you can manage to avoid the OMICRON....i just got boosted yesterday....fingers crossed.

Came out of Kajukenbo with a mix of most disciplines...
Kung Fu point sparring...
Kick Boxing...
BJJ & small circle...
Stick work...
Etc.
Injury in the month before COVID...
Yet to return since I live in a COVID world...
Don't want to infect sparring partners...
But definitely feeling more soft in the middle after the time away!

I have a trainer who lives up the street from me with a small garage that has been converted to a nice (very padded) sparring room. He is a brown belt in BJJ and I get to work with him 1:1 twice a week. We have been pretty careful regarding COVID precautions, so far so good. I will have to do some research on the Mo Duk Pai Kung Fu, hope you feel like you can return soon, I would definitely be loosing my shite if I didnt have that to look forward to every week.

Off to a great start with my anti-vax trumpy brother on a ventilator with COVID...
If he rallies, he tell me "I told you it was a hoax"...

My little bro is not a trumper but he is refusing the vax...so is his wife who is pregnant and a nurse, def a head scratcher.
Meanwhile, my youngest just got it again for the second time, he is a sophomore, works at Lloyd Center Ice rink and wears his mask EVERYWHERE....relatively mild symptoms, no doctors visit or hospitalization.

My brother did not make it...
They took him off the ventilator on Jan 15.
RIP Steve.

Get your vaccine...his wife is...now.

Doc, I am so sorry to learn about the loss of your brother Steve. I lost my middle brother to cancer and it was brutal. I will be sending positive energy your way.
