Not sure where yer at HD...but we got barrels today. That stoked me pretty good. Its pretty sad you get stoked on people not being able to score good surf.

Tex,
I'm glad you got waves (especially somewhere else!).

I'm not sure you've been around long enough to have seen this before, but my goal with HD's posts has always been to be half serious or informative, half humorous, with the remaining half being just stupid. I'm afraid I've allowed HD to spiral out of control into the third half with the grumpy local bit and my opinions have gotten lost in the process.

This Haters thread is a perfect place to attempt to explain my points more succinctly. I was first pissed when Critter suggested that it was OK to name drop well know spots including my home. Again, you probably haven't been around long enough, but Doc & I had a feud about this same topic several years ago. My point has always been that you should treat any spot and the locals there with respect, even if it's a popular kook destination. And I think the respect extends to your behavior on the internet when you return home. I'm asking that posters treat my home break with the same respect as other "secret" spots, both in the water, and on the internet. Those of us that have been around the OSP for a long time will be descriptive in our surf reports without blatantly naming a spot. And I prefer that you hold off with posts of your action shots (here and on other sites) until the conditions have changed. This might seems silly, but I've lived at this spot long enough to notice direct effects in terms of the number of bodies in the water because of internet posts, web cams, and cell phones. It's especially aggravating when us locals have endured a long spell of crappy surf only to have the crowds blow up because of over advertising when it does start working. To me, it's sort of an evolution of surfing etiquette to minimize the widespread advertising of your "epic" session on the internet. When I travel, I try to wait until I'm home to post action photos and I try to omit spot names. Bulbous pointed out that there is some hypocrisy in my own posts, so I have room for improvement, too.

I'm never going to say go somewhere else (but HD might) because I love this place and its pristine beauty. That's why you'll find a lot of photos of this place if you look through my archives. If you haven't travelled, you might not realize how lucky we are to have the Beach Bill which guarantees public access to all of Oregon's beaches:
http://www.opb.org/programs/oregonexper ... beachbill/

So really, my only request is that you treat the locals with respect in the water, and treat the spot with respect on the internet.

Yeah, I realize the town itself is a shithole, but the natural features are awesome.

Sooloo, why aren't you out tanning somewhere with Mitch & Ding?

The speed demon has gone fast enough to qualify for 12 State events & 11 Sectional events. Right now he's the fastest 11-y-o 50 flyer in the state....by a good 2 seconds. :D

Our new Safeboat. So big and bulky, gotta hire out a Mac to haul her. She's going to be in the water a while, that was a rough launch.
