The Thievery Corporation, Raido Retaliation

Super tight release form the outernational boys from DC. Been waiting for this for sometime now. Cameos from Femi Kuti, Seu Jorge, Sleepy Wonder, Zee, and Chuck Brown (SG might rmember Chuck Brown from the DC GO GO genra) This will no doubt be my surf searching soundtrack this fall from Nor Cal to South Van Island.

Oh yeah...Chuck Brown, Trouble Funk, Rare Essence, Hot Cold Sweat....I got my GO GO a going plenty o' times!

My fave was when the punk-a-gogo shows would happen. T-Funk, Minor Threat, and the Big Boys sharing the same bill...Insane.

Rise Against - Appeal to Reason

Image

After listening to their last album (the Sufferer and the Witness) an uncountable amount of times ('Injection' is one of the most epic amp up songs EVER), I eagerly anticipated this one. It is a noticibly less agggressive album, but still some solid rock music with poignant lyrics (that would go well with fossilgroms end of the world ramblings with songs like Collapse (Post Amerika) and Re-Education (Through Labor) that I am really enjoying after a few listens (after my initial "where is the screaming? these f*#&ers went soft" reaction gave way to the realization that the songs still kick @ss).

There is a ballad on this album called "Hero of War' that is pretty aggro.

Oh and Dub, great call on the new Thievery album.. I was going to comment on your avatar but forgot...I love the 'Sleep Wonder' tracks. Rooots!

WC lent me some Bill Hicks cds, what a f-ing great comedian, a little too twisted for me at times but could still listen to him all the way to SC.
