Tuna...it's not just for breakfast anymore.....

Postby Wilbur Kookmeyer » Tue Jul 06, 2010 4:27 pm

So I have decided I am going to go on a charter for Albacore.

Seeing that this normally is a salty bunch, I was wanting to poke around and see if anyone had any info or input on their own experience with this idea...

Or even better...if anyone has a boat with enough range and needs a swabby.....

I have a lead on an outfit that runs out of Dopy Bay and limits the haul to 4 anglers. This is the kind of experience I am loking for. I am not too interested in going out with a dozen or more anglers on the same boat.

Any love?

Been watching the SST's and looks like going out anywhere north of depoe or south of PO should be good. They've been catching them 35-40 miles out here :( .

Stay away from the bigger parties cause you will have to wait yer turn since they can only have so many lines in at a time.

Once they get closer than 20 miles I might be out there...

If you don't mind a long ride out into the ocean your set. I didn't really enjoy fishing that far out but the weather wasn't great the day we went. Like you and Ceedog said keep the party small, we had like 8-10 guys on our boat and it wasn't much fun taking turns. Everyone basically ended up with one fish. Hopefully someone will chime in and you can get out without the charter.

Beer and gas money works well... Unless you're down in these parts then it'd be m#th and rockstars.
