So...what do you do when you don't surf?

Yes, this is a surfpage, but many of us like to discuss non-surf related issues amongst fellow surfers. Here's the place to do it. Registration is required.

I either am surfing or complaining about not surfing...

I moved down to SB to work for a start-up on salary, so until we either sell or go public I won't have much of a life. The only other activity besides adventures with the family is keeping up with all the chaos going on in the world.

Work mostly. I only get 1 in 6 weekends off and those I bail back home to Oregon since they are 4 days. Work is mostly boring but I have learned that it only takes 1 person to make it interesting. Occasionally I even get to do fun things like ship boardings. (Sadly this is also how I get my few adrenaline fixes anymore. Like climbing down the side of a barge to board a tug. The hard part is stepping onto the railing of the tug and letting go of the barge when there is 3' in between.)
Running- Training for a Half-Marathon at the beginning of September.
Kayaking- I can see the bay from my house and surf is hours away so kayaking it is. Nice to get out on the water. Want to try some overnight trips this summer. I have 2 a 9.5' recreational and a 14.5' touring that is fast and fun.
Snowboarding- Still learning but Baker is only an hour and a half from my place.
Gardening-Just ripped out the only 2 intentional plants (ugly pine bushes) in the whole yard of my rental. Digging out the gravel from the flower beds and starting over. Have plants ready to go in the ground or pots and seeds ready to start. Trying to grow most of my own veggies this year.
Reading- Nothing to grownup but I like an enjoyable book.
Shooting- Don't get to go as much as I would like but my Glock gets to go with me plenty of places.
Traveling- Not as much as I would like but I get antsy staying at home for to long. Headed to Vegas and Disneyland this year. Thinking Ireland, Washington DC, and San Fran next year.
Portland - Where young people go to retire.

Dang, I'm sorry this thread died down.I was enjoying reading about your boring pathetic lives outside of pseudo surfing.

I don't surf much but I drive a lot as a half azz attempt. So driving is one of the many things I enjoy besides surfing. I like driving through neighborhoods and checking out houses and garden ideas. This is an expensive hobby what with gas prices and all.

I also enjoy golfing. I got my first club membership a couple years back. I honestly don't know the first thing about golf but I like to spend Sunday morning sucking down bloody mary's at McCormick Woods before I fuk up the course with a brody or two...then it's off to the boat! I have quite a fleet at this point in life but my current hard on is a 1930 22'Chris-Craft Runabout. The old man and I are finishing up the restoration this summer.

My newest passion is body building. I started training after my last baby to get the old body back to work. I'm working to be one of those mama's who make you sick with their physique and hoping to compete by the time I'm 35.

When it's all said and done my favorite things in the world are cooling out with my little children and dogs, working in the garden with my man, smoking a little herb and tanning in the sunshine, watching my man shred and blow minds with his music...pretty basic. Not a bad retirement.

Forgot to add coaching T-Ball. My oldest can damn near hit it out of the park.

Never really got into the weights....pull ups, push ups, sit ups, running and cycling.

Not that I wouldnt benefit from some serious time on the bench or the squat rack.

For the past 3 years I've spent the first five hours of my day taking care of my little girl and the next 12 working. I like playdough more than coloring, but parks, the zoo, Oregon Children's Museum and swimming lessons are my favorite. Lately we've taken to "adventuring" in parks looking for dinosaurs and alligators. Not much room for anything else.

Back when my life had more to do with what I wanted to do, I spent a fair amount of time with martial arts and a lot of time with pool tables. Someday I'd like to get back to that and teach my little angel how to kick some butt.
I even used to read books without pictures frequently. Now I only get to read on the toilet.

In the meantime, Wonder Woman has to rescue Mikcey Mouse's picnic from the bear before we go play some game involving a ball in the yard.

That hit it on the head for me.....

I surfed an @ss LOAD more before I had my two boys. But last month, we all sessioned together and the stoke is unreal.

The time invested in the kids pays back 100 times over...enjoy it and max it out while you can.

Critter,

I think it all depends on how much meth you have....but you live in the Oregon meth capitol so getting Hess to help should be pretty damn easy.
