So The cancer was supposedly cured. They are still running tests every few weeks. But he's OK for now, thanks for the thoughts. He has been sick a lot since then though, non stop.

How would that make you feel if he did Tex?

My Dad passed away about 3 years ago, my partner always asks if it would be weird if my Mom started dating again. I say no, but I think it would definitely be weird.

I am actually fine with it. Gave it a lot of thought and you know, it simply cannot be controlled. My dad found someone he likes hanging out with. My mom has passed and I am sure she would just want him to be happy. I am firmly now in the camp of, good for you pops, be in the moment, live life to the fullest.

Your pretty young to lose your pops at that age Intern, Im really sorry for your loss. My brother passed away when he was only 35 from cancer....too damn young for that.

35 is way to young, at least my dad was 60.

It seems like such a weird blur at this time. It came at a time when I was diving headfirst into existential philosophy, Ram Dass, "spirituality"... and I feel like that helped me weather a lot of it and be a support for my mother and brother. I feel super open about talking about it, but they are grieving much harder (4 years past), and I can't tell if I am ok or things might hit later.

Ram Dass is a pretty bad @ss dude, I actually been reading some books about his Guru over the past year. Yeah, we are all in different stages of processing my mom's death. We were lucky to have her pass in the family home and we were all there when she took her last breath. My mom, dad and brother/sister-in-law all moved up to Orcas Island in the San Juans so it was a peaceful place to birth her soul to the next life.

Cool article. The part in Be Here Now, when Richard Alpert is on acid and just watching his plane and car dissolve in front of him is one of my favorite Ram Dass stories.

I used what I believe was LSD, might have been a Shulgin analog, a couple times around when my Dad was dying. I had one trip that was quite difficult and I struggled a bit with it,then gave in to it and felt ok, the next morning everything was fine and felt good....I took that as some kind of dip into what dying might be like.

Whoah....sounds a bit heavy. I have had several death dreams, where I actually die. Surreal and has really eased my fear of dying.....speaking as an older guy that might have a couple decades left.
