feels good, man.
It sure does. Congrats, Blue. We paid off all our debt (except student loans) and went to an all-cash basis back in '13/14 or so. It feels great no joke. Our cars are both old, but they're paid off. Have to do a bit of saving up if either of us want something (you know, like, say, a new surfboard) but it's totally worth it to be out from under the thumb of banks and credit card companies.
Bought a house last year and that's the only debt we've taken on since then. Just re-financed down to 15-yr mortgage and hope to have that paid off early so we can get back to our clean slate asap. Hoping to have my student loans dismissed in 5 years though PSLF if they don't cancel the program first.
We're saving like we've never had before and so far despite my wife getting barely any hours the past few months and facing furlough days on my part, we've (so far) been able to weather the storm since we don't have major debt obligations other than our mortgage to make each month.
Not trying to brag or anything just trying to encourage others to do the same. It's a bit of a lifestyle adjustment for sure, but I highly, highly recommend it to everyone. True freedom is financial freedom. Clear your debt and clear your mind, man...
