If anyone has got some good advice for newish, underground non bootie hip hop, I need it. Portland is too white for me and I find that nobody listens to the hop here whereas everywhere else no one listens to the sniveling emo crap that PDX is famous for.

Like-
Talib Kweli
Jurassic Five
Blackalicious
Latyrx
Automato
Chali 2na
Roots Manuava
Ohmega Watts
Lauren Hill
The Coup

Don't-
snoop and such.

Try:
The People Under the Stairs
Dialated Peoples
Atmosphere
The Roots
Zion I
KB07 (Knowledge Born 07)
The Blue Scholars (From Seattle - super talented)

since you mentioned Talib, you must have some Mos Def and Black Star right?

PM me if you want me to email you a few mp3's to sample and see if they suit you

This thread inspired me to chek out some new music. So after skateboarding today, i went by jackpot records and scored the latest aldum by Electrelane. They are currently kicking my arse. Good stuff.

What a beautifull laugh.

You're girlfriend sounds way cool. You know, she's right,..it is stupid.
Most surfers I've met are way cooler than what we post on this board...
Me included,...at least I'd like to think so.

The written word is more free than the persona we present. Thank God!
