Bitter Honey
Posted: Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:43 ami was on my bike last night riding home. It was a bit chilly, but a wonderful feeling.
It is not the same as surfing of course, nothing really is. But it is a freedom that cannot be felt in another way that I have experienced, at least not on pavement.
I walked into the house in such a good mood.
Wilburette was watching TV in her bed wit the cats and life was mellow.
I came to this place as is habit for so many of us.
Immediately my mood is ruined.
Nasty pm's from some and a glance over the conversations and threads truly brought me down, with a quickness.
I thought about just bailing, asking for complete deletion. Put me out of my misery. But Gaz's condemnation of such antics resonated as truth in my head. A lot of what that cat says resonates in such a manner.
I awoke this morning and found more of the same.
Disheartening.
Seems this honey pot that attracts these flys has turned somewhat bitter.
Several prominent members have faded out, left, or just gave up.

Come to mind. There are others that no longer post, but it is early and I am still feeding my system it's life blood of caffeine. Sure, life gets busy and we come and go, however there seems to be a trend that is showing it's path.
Several other very cool individuals have receded and post less frequently than they once did.
I have heard comments about the negativity of the page. At first I blew it off and just figured anyone that sees that just can't hang tough.
but upon review of many of the threads, it is apparent that there is a common thread of negativity that has taken over.
The running joke that "Nobody understands Wilbur" seems to be fitting. However I beginning to wonder if it is more poignant in the context that "Wilbur understands nobody".
I am far from perfect, big surprise, and though I do not mean to seem self-involved or appoint myself some sort of omnipitence, but I wonder how much of this negativity has been fueled by me, and what the effects of that influence have been on the enjoyment of the page by others.
There truly is a community here. there is hardly anyone that I have ever met from these pages that I did not click with in real life. Maybe Slimvest, but then again, outside of FP...who can really relate with that guy?
I don;t need your attention. I don't need your praise. What I would like is some constructive input and truth to the matter that I may be responsible for contributing to the negativity of the page.

I grew up in a family of 5 kids. I am the youngest. The baby of the litter. I have three older brothers and one older sister. the order goes Boy, Boy, girl, Boy, Wilbur. My poor sister could get a date to save her life, but that is another story.
As is the case with others I am sure, Oldest Boy pics on the next one. they both hack on the sister, those three hack on the next one, and all four hack on the baby boy.
Teasing hacking, and physical harassment were things i grew up with, and truly are fond memories for me. I do not get twisted about the darts stuck in my shoulder...I laugh. Because it is funny. It is how we have all showed our affections for another. In my family, if you are not getting hacked on..we don't like you.
It is the same with my friendships.
It is the same in these pages.
It is in this spirit that I hack on others here, or jab at others.
I truly mean no harm.
No apologies are mentioned here, as I have no intention of apologizing for any of it.
however, if you feel that my form of affection, has crossed a line, let me know. I truly do not mean to contribute to any of the negativity here.
After all, contrary to popular belief, I truly am not perfect.
