Glue Ups

Postby McDing » Tue Jul 13, 2010 8:40 pm

So I'm staring the process of gluing up a few Poly fish blanks. I'll try to figure out a way to post some pictures along the way. I think since I am in the glue mindset I'll probably do eight or nine EPS as well. Bought some nice T-band ply. Quarter inch and eigth inch T-band. Pretty light. Should make a nice stringer. I have a Timmy Patterson rocker template that I can copy. Pretty standard rocker for a T. Patterson Clark. Gonna buy four bar clamps at 48". They are on sale at a certain place I occasionally buy needed tools. I buy 48" because a wider clamp can be used for anything up to 48". Gotta make a "stiff back" for the molded blanks, but won't need one for the EPS blanks. Those are hotwired from a billet. Well I'll figure out a way to post a few pics and let you know how it goes. I plan on doing one a night as I have one set of clamps and am going to use "White Gorilla Gue". I could use Epoxy or Poyester resin, but don't want to do more than one at a time without help. Slow cure time is good for adjusting the rocker in the clamp.

I glassed my thumbnail the other day...
Smacked it with a hammer a month ago...
And it was peeling up on one side and weak...
I was patching a ding and figured "Me too"...

I don't detest anybody. I have hugged a few trees myself. Just enjoy yankin' chains once in awhile. Exactly where i got my clamps.

Well lets put it this way; I hope they don't come out weird. But otherwise I am hoping for straight down the middle ply T-bands with no voids. One of these days when I can afford a Laguna bandsaw I'll try a figure eight just for the flock of it. How 'bout that World Cup Gaz. Your not gonna belive it but I picked Espana three weeks ago. Bet my daughters and won nothing cause they've got no money.
