Animals vs. Humans

This forum is for SURF topics such as localism and rants that are usually negative in nature. If you're a baby, complainer, or generally think you're right and everyone else is wrong this is the place for you. Sorry if I'm kissin too much arse but I'm quite entertained and truly AGREE with all of you. Great post W.K. You made me (us?) ponder, even if for only a moment.

My two cents.....?....hmmm.....

1) Often times I've wished I was a dog in a loving home.

2) I hate seeing anything suffer, though in the past I've killed lots of things (mostly) birds, for sick thrill/pleasure.

3) Be it people or animals, I can turn empathy on or off. So I can kill you or your dog, or I can mourn your death or the dog's death.

I think we should all get together for an "e-hug" and study empathy for a moment.

Despite the inappropriate offer to suck your likely small coque...

I could be wrong but it isn't really something I want to ponder...

I'll reply to your authoratative commentary...

You offered:

Simple proactive steps for reducing whining and facilitating actual change...

Think of it as a FAQ for OSP...

Want to change the nation or the government? Run for public office, or at the very least, vote.
Want to save nature? Buy some land, or see previous.
Want to fight a war, or impose your beliefs on other nations? Join the Army.
Want humanity to cease to exist? Start with yourself.
Want to get in trouble, or physically express your fanatical views? Join an extremist group, see, e.g. Animal Liberation Front, Army of God
Want to have food, healthcare, and shelter? Work hard, and pay for it.
Want to stop seeing kooks at your local break? Stop surfing.

As for the first...changing government could also consist of non-participation, violent or non-violent protest, or any other number of activities...I believe local change will spur regional change, regional national and so on...but voting, although I do, has done little to steer the country in, what I am sure is, the right direction...

Secondly...saving nature...I don't put alot of truck in giving money to the myriad groups that are the primary activists on this front...I do give money on occasion but I don't have a ton of money to put towards it so I don't...also, some animals or plants are meant to go extinct...I don't necessarily like being part of global warming, which I am sure I am, but I also need to heat my house, drive my car, surf PU surfboards, etc...don't debate this, I need to.

Third...fighting wars...don't want to...think the money would be better spentimproving the lot of the disenfranchised...but that'll never happen because the wealthy want what they earn and don't want to share it...who would? The other option as I see it is feck traditional warfare...go drones & clones...ultimately the US will lose and go the way of all other civilizations...hopefully not in my or my immediate families lifetimes...I want my descendants to have a peaceful & comfortable life but I don't worry about them like I do my son & daughter.

Fourth...humanity will cease to exist...or not...who cares beyond the present? And why worry about 200, 2000 or 2 million years down the road beyond not being total fuq ups?

Fifth...extremism is human nature...hell, look at your own comments. There'll always be someone to join them and there'll always be someone trying to suppres them and there'll always be reasonable people like me.

Sixth...the basic neccessities...the best way to maintain the basic necessities is to ensure that everyone has them...if they don't they get pissed off and agitated...thinking somehow they're getting screwed...our current system of liquor stores & gun shops seems to be working for now...but it isn't sustainable.

Finally...Kooks at my break?...don't have one anymore...we're all immigrants on some level anyhow...not gonna stop surfing tho.

If we simply reduced the populations of people in the world, both people and animals would benefit.
Problem is, the only way we know how to measure success is by growth.

Sustainability is the answer.
No one knows what a spot of time is till all the world is water and then the air is gone.

Jesus would.
Despite the fact that in today's America Jesus would be vilified by the jokers on the right as a left-wing, socialist, commie pinko.

Animal protection groups existed before child protection agencies (which didn't come about until the late 1800's). Crazy isn't it? We have things pretty damn backwards in my opinion.
