Top Ten Places to meet Johnny

Postby Ceedog » Sat Jun 07, 2008 1:18 am

Know of any that might help a fellow OSPer avoid Johnny?

Philomath, especially entering from the west on 20.
Tillamook, watch the fast changing lights
Newport, they hide on the side street by starbucks

Or just camp out behind any effing Subaru.

Especially the ones with the "IMPEACH" sticker on the back....

Oh...anyone who drives over 60 mph between Sylvan and the Banks turn-off is an idiot.

I know this has been covered but anything in Philomath and Corvallis. When I am driving a work vehicle it is another story about speeding though. According to one of my coworkers the E on the license plate means exempt from tickets. I have yet to hear of one of them getting one and I have riden with them before so I know they do anything but the speed limit. It is not the cops you have to worry about then it is the little old ladies who call you into the courthouse.

Legally, even cops are breaking the law if they are speeding and not en-route to an incident.

Not only is it soft top kook and beach blanket bingo season, its speed trap season.

Been a undercover car parked in Timber, most of the time empty, but saw a Johhny out shooting radar for the 1st time around the weekend warroir rush hour yesterday afternoon.

Saw several other speed traps, but cant remember where. Also saw someone with boards pulled over in a 4-Runner, guess they were overley stoked to ride the 4 foot windswell?

Been going a bout 55 instead of 70 to conseverve fuel. Normall I'm a cronic speeder thou and have paid for it in the past. At least a boards worth : (

Speed wise yes, but I can't tell you how many times I've been followed in older VW's or pulled over for pathetic reasons, the ole there must be some weed in that there hippy van. Stickers and boards on top make it even worse. "dude, dude, COP, roll down the windows, jock the stash."

The last hill on 26, particularly the downhill portion going towards the Saddle Mountain turnoff, has been a major speed trap for about 10 years. There's a bout 4 places they set up at on that stretch and there's a 25% chance they're there.

After 6 months of living on the coast and thousands of miles travelled on 101 and the major bisecting thoroughfares here's my top ten places to slow down.

1. Reedsport - DO NOT speed in town.
2. Port Orford - We were pulled over for doing 2mi over in the work truck
3. Tillamook - Most of you already know.
4. Philomath - They hide on the W. end of town and 25mi limit.
5. Rockaway - Always hiding somewhere.
6. North Bend - Do not speed on the bridge, they're waiting on both sides.
7. Newport - Mainly at night, hwy 20 and S. end of bridge.
8. Bandon - Was bad but cop car has been parked off 101 for a while.
9. Gardiner - They hide on the N. end at the bottom of the hill 35mi limit.
10.Brookings - N. side of town.
