Or shipments of BC bud. Figure I will find pot at some point tucked behind a stack of tomatoes. The Customs and Border Patrol Officers take care of most of the drug and immigration issues, CBP Agriculture Specialists mostly inspect trucks.

If I had a job with Homeland Security I don't think I'd chat about it on the net...especially if I was chatting about nabbing BC buds on a surf forum, just me though.

Congrats Trula. I hope you like being a hermit and hate culture.
Blaine sucks and is pretty remote. Plus you can smell Canada from there. And Canada smells like feet.

Trula maybe you'll get to be on that reality TV show? The one that documents customs agents at teh borders. It's sota entertaing especially when they make big coke or weed busts.

But I thought you got a degree in Environmental Science?

I got a Natural Resources degree so living in Blaine does not seem so bad after the places I have been working the last couple summers. Oregon has its fair share of towns where I never want to live.

I actually do watch that show.

Not sure I see the coloration between the customs job and you're degree? Did you try the USFS, USFWS, BLM, EPA, NRCS, or any of the local conservation organizations?

Did you ever check out this site: http://www.ecojobs.com/ There are a lot of good opp's here. Seems like you could get a better gig with you're degree.

I see the correlation.
Natural resources and banned resources. Keeping out non-native plants and animals.
I also know a guy with a Masters in Art that became a firefighter with no previous experience.

Natural resources degrees are required for the job used to be a USDA job then moved to CBP. USDA does the training and foots the bill for the paychecks. I get to use my science background and I will make more than I would as a ranger.
