Oh man...what pisses me off...where to start today....

One of my supervisors decided to get himself in hot water and will go to the can just in time for the start of the halibut season so now I will have to do my job and his but hey at least I will get paid the same for doing two jobs right? Yeah...good times....

Sam and his crooked cronies 'found' unexpected gains in the sewers and instead of funneling that money to the poor schools or puting it back inot the pockets that over paid it they will use it to fund more bicycle boulevard projects....

Illinois complains that they are going to have to cut school funds because they are facing a $13b deficit that they are blaming on a $1b shortfall in tax revenue....huh? Yeah..that math works....so what do they want to do? Yeah ... raise taxes....

It still feels like winter outside.

I have not got back in the water yet.

I did not get to go to the gym because I was stuck at work for 14 hours.

And I need some action!

Hearing a few months ago a co-worker tell me that her parents bought her 20 year old brother a 1000cc Ninja knowing as she told me this that her brother was not long for this world and finding out today that in fact he was killed in an accident yesterday.

VANCOUVER -- A 20-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after he rode his motorcycle into a large cement block at the BPA Ross Complex, police said.

He was speeding northbound on Northeast 15th Avenue just after 2 p.m. and was not able to negotiate a T intersection. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Further information was not available.

I am not a big fan of more regulations and laws, however years ago I got a ticket for no seat belt and had to go to a class taught by a trauma nurse that was extremely sobering. She brought a slide show and tales from her years as a life flight nurse. Argue seat belts all you want but it was a sobering class.

We need to make so that everyone who rides must go through a similar course on motorcycle safety before getting an endorsement. And it needs to be taught in the same manner with a trauma nurse and her slide show of what happens when you are as stupid as these young people are.

I rode like an a-hole when I was in my 20's and I am lucky to have lived through it. Lucky! It was not skill or know-how that allowed me to live...it was luck or divine intervention. I should have been killed.

Looking back on that time now, and knowing what I know, and knowing that these machines are incredibly fast....these young people will continue to die even if we teach them better...but maybe we can save one or two....

This young woman is now going to know what it is like to lose a brother, and it sucks. And worse yet...his parents are going to have to live with the idea that they purchased this machine for him.

I am actually angry about it.

With Motorcycles the question isn't if you'll have an accident...
It's when.
For my cousin it was 22...
Minor league big league prospect...
Not after his crash...
Destroyed knee...
For my uncle it was in his 40's...
Crashed in the rain...
Not even going that fast...
But fast enough that he broke his neck...
He recovered but it took years...
And for a friend in his 60's...
It was a headon with a semi...
There was no surviving that one...
I'm sure someone will live through it...
To die of old age.

There was an employee who died coming to work just before I started. We have had a couple of others come close. I think it is almost worse up here for some reason since the percentage rate for wrecks to riders is not good for my workplace at least. I have my endorsement took the Team Oregon course but I will not buy a bike as long as I live up here.

Doc is right, it is not a matter of if, but of when.
However...getting nailed in an intersection or having someone pull out on you is one thing, but wrecking because of a lack of experience, skill, or brains is another.

these kids are killing themselves in single vehicle accidents where they are not involved with another car or bike. Flat out over-riding their machines.

This guy wobbled and almost dumped the bike just pulling out onto the road.
My gut tells me that if he does not park and sell that machine, this is the last Spring of his life.

It's not the machines...it is the age and inexperience of the riders.
