Rolled down and into a ghost town, pulled up in the lot and got blasted by the siren and then a emergency service announcement over the speaker in English and Spanish...wtf!? I had no idea, drove from Portland and arrived at nearly the exact minute they forecast the thing to arrive. Great timing.
There's a few other cars in the lot, looks like a bit of a peanut gallery, the riff raff that show up because they're told not to, they're stoked to see some carnage.
Watched the first two surges with my engine running ready to bail to the head.Came and went, no drama.

Sketched me out and I headed for the hills. Thoughts out to Japan.

Wow, 1:30. That's some hard core dawn patrol. The worst to come of this "event" was around 2am as panicked coasties drove off the road fleeing the 4ft of doom scheduled to arrive at 7:30am.

Did you bring your kids with you to play on the beach? We have a large spanish speaking community...Get it? People taking steps to protect there children and elderly are not in the panic mode.....We that live here know what a 2-4ft wave moving towards the coast at 500mi can do this time it didn't happen lucky for everyone.....
Some how I get the drift you fall into the kook category as a surfer and a human being....
Party on dude......

Whoa, a bit testy are we... what happened to the good humor?? Oh, that's right, nothing funny about people dying, unless their from Portland that is.

Yes, I am a kook. Yes, people wrecked their cars in a panic 5 hours before anything was to arrive. Yes, I would have turned around and gone home had I known what was potentially coming. Yes, you completely misinterpreted my comment about the Spanish. Yes, everyone is lucky nothing too bad went down here in Oregon. Yes I did talk to locals in the lot and watched others walking on the beach who had known about the tsunami and stayed anyway. Yes, finding humor in the fact that people were driving into a potential disaster is totally fuked and is a pretty clear reflection of character.

My heart goes out to the Japanese who lost family, friends and property, I'm glad things were not any worse for fellow Oregonians.

So yes, party on.

Yes there was surf today and it was fun.

Tsunami - walked down and check the tsunami thing about 8:30 to 9:00 am. First one I have ever seen and it was quite impressive - like extreme low tide and extreme high tide within about 6 minutes. I watched about 10 surges. Certainly anyone on the beach during a surge would have been in troulble.

South winds...
And subsiding swells...
To 15 feet...
And work...
Are among the things...
That have negatively impacted...
My central coast forays this spring...
Add to that...
Nagging, slow to heal injuries...
Gas prices approaching $4 a gallon...
And it's been a recipe for extended valley dwelling...
All week looks to be 12-20 foot...
Too much push for my shoulder and back...
I am patient tho.

How'd the water taste? Last time I surfed Social Securities during a storm, waves were good, but it smelled like raw poo gnar.

Good to have other hobbies around here. Shredded some pow and watched my buddy catch a nice steelhead, while I only got a couple bites. Nice to be in the great outdoors even if I wasn’t in the water. Also, cooked up a batch of some mean vege chili. I know how mean can vege chili be? The Columbia Cafe's get er down.

Feels more like winter dole's than the spring chowds. Stay stoked.

These two pages are not any more about surfing than the rest of the countless pages of drivel located elsewhere in this collosal goat f@#K of a web-community manned by a bunch of squid pinchers....
