Kids stakeboarding

Postby Tex » Thu Oct 17, 2013 9:11 am

My boys did a bunch of skake camps this summer. Now my nine year old is dropping in and throwing the tail off the lip...he loves the bowls.

All that should definitley help with his board work in the surf.

Now I bring my video camera every time we go to various skateparks.

The 8 Year old is working on his half pipe skills.

trying to get my 9 yr old daughter to quit skateboarding. its really hard to focus on ME, when all she wants to do is skate. i highly recommend NOT sharing hobbies with yr children. get them a kindle or Ipod. f*ck it. life's way too short to worry about their so called 'interests,' when they get in the way of yr own.

Took my boys skating at a relatively new park at the Seattle Center last weekend. Only 4 guys on it. Old man transitions which allowed me to get my skate on a bit. My Achilles is on fire though...

My 8 and 10 year old boys skated there for almost 3 hours...

I took the kids to a skate park off of Powell on the east side of 205. Pretty mellow spot with easy transitions. My boys had a blast but it got busy by high noon. Go early and you can have it all to yourself for a few hours. Good balance between ramps and street.

Finally got my boys down to the Eugene skatepark wonderland.
That park is awesome, it has a really fun pump track that old guys like me could spend hours on.

My 8 year old dropped in off a 6.5 ft section, he just owned it!

Also, Portland Parks and Rec has a fall instruction course. Right now, it is my two sons and their best friend who get an hour of coaching a week at Glenhaven. Room for more if you want your kids to join.

Looks like a long fun hill with no intersections!!
I have been running my boys up to the switchbacks just below the rose garden.

My 11 year old wants to do the contest at Maryhill this year....we will see, his mom is scared shitless.

Tex, this hill is in SW just behind Gabriel Park. No intersection and no traffic. Fun to bomb after a sesh at the park.

You should bring your boys to Mt Tabor, pretty mellow runs but enough for a bit of a thrill if you've got soft wheels.

If you want to get serious. SE72nd down to Division is a face melter.

My oldest did his first downhill contest at Switchbacks on Saturday...pouring rain. He got two fourth place and two first place finishes...competing against sixteen year old kids. He is only 11. Super proud of him!

My oldest- turning 14 this winter, took a little break from skateboarding...I am pushing him to pick it back up. He was actually fairly decent, both downhill, street and park. He would drop into stuff that I know I never will in this lifetime.

I finally got my kid to quit. Best move I've pulled yet. Daddy can ride free again.
